Trunk or Treat pictures

Cousins Kendall Morgan & Lacey Kendall pose as Joseph&Mary. Lacey's mom made her costume. You can't see it very well in this picture, but Lacey's legs are the hind legs of the donkey. The legs that you can see off the side of the donkey are fake. Pretty cool!

TRUNK OR TREAT

Trunk or Treat is our church's alternative to Halloween. It is hosted by our Sunday school class in conjunction with the teen department. The church parking lot is blocked off, and everyone pulls their vehicles in with the back facing out. They open their trunks and decorate them. They also supply candy for kids 6th grade and under for "trick-or-treating." The festivities include a costume contest, pumpkin carving contest, guess the # of candy pumpkins in the jar, best trunk contest, and a dessert auction(the proceeds go to the teens' mission trip fund). After 2 days of cold, rainy weather, the sun was shining very brightly, and it was a very cool autumn day. It got very cold and windy after the sun went down, but a fire in the parking lot and concession stand in the gym helped warm folks up a little. Chris and I didn't get involved in the trunk decorating this year, and we weren't allowed to get candy either. :-( Chris just missed winning the candy pumpkins guess - his guess was 221, and there were 224 pumpkins. The winner guessed 223! (What are the odds of that?!?!) Again, we had a great time just fellowshipping and getting to know more people. It has been really nice to get more involved.

The Master Pumpkin Carver

On Friday night, 10-27-06, we attended a pumpkin carving party (and Jacob's 1st b-day party) at the home of Joe & Kathryn Combs. I don't know how many people were there total, but someone counted 17 kids under the age of 5 years old!!! It was definitely a house full! We were able to get to know several couples (and their kids) from our new church (Shawnee). Also, Joe & Kathryn both graduated from PCC, and they recently moved to New Albany, IN, from Elizabethtown, KY, so several of their friends from E-town came up for the party. All of those couples also graduated from PCC, and they knew of Chris from their college days. Again, it is amazing how small the world is! We had a GREAT time getting to know new people, and Chris amazed some of the guys with his pumpkin carving speed & skill (pretty good for the 1st time!) Chris carved a friendly pumpkin face just for me, since I hate scary stuff. All in all, it was a great time had by all! :-)

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

PRAISE THE LORD!! In the past couple of days, Chris and I have both been able to get full-time, regular jobs. Not only that, but both of us now have a regular income! Chris got promoted to office manager at his job for Midwest Merchants. We both think that he will be much more of an asset to the company at that position, rather than as a salesman. In doing that, he gets a base pay salary along with incentives and commission on sales. What a blessing that will be!

I start work on Monday full-time. I am working with an 11 year old special needs child with Cerebral Palsy. He has a tracheostomy, breathes with a ventilator, and gets fed through a G-tube. I met him today, and he was sleeping, but he looks adorable! I will be going to school with him every day. The school that he attends has a lot of cool things available to their students, and I am excited to be a part of that.

Tonight we are going to a pumkin carving party. We are not usually "into" that type of thing as we try to stay away from "celebrating" Halloween. However, this is an opportunity to meet new people and have some fellowship, and we are more than ready to do that!

Launch into the blogging world!

Hello! This is my launch into the world of blogging. I love keeping in touch with others through their websites, so I thought I might start one of my own. Chris and I don't have any kids yet, though, so ours might be boring as compared to others. However, our life never seems to have a dull moment, so I'll add them in here. :-) We look forward to keeping in touch with those of you who we never get to see. I've added the most recent picture of us for those of you who haven't seen us in a while.
Right now, Chris and I live in "Kentuckiana." The actual town that we live in is in the "greater metro" area of Louisville, KY... commonly known in this area as "Kentuckiana." We moved here September 8, 2006. Chris resigned from his position of youth pastor in Maryland in July, and we are taking a one year "Sabbatical" from full-time ministry. During this year, we are attending Shawnee Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, and are getting involved in ministry there. We are both working... Chris for Midwest Merchants, a company that sells leases for credit card machines to business owners, and I am working for Maxim Healthcare Services, a staffing agency for healthcare workers.
We are also taking this time to focus on our spiritual lives, our marriage, and we are praying that God will open the doors to our future ministry. We are enjoying the area, so far, and are making some friends at church. God is good!
